CHARLOTTE TRANSPORTATION

The city-planners of Charlotte, N.C., have planned extensively and introduced Mass Rapid Transport System MRTS, inter-city linking systems and LYNX trolleys. Reduction of carbon emissions and regulation of the traffic congestions prompted the authorities to develop extensively CATS (Charlotte Area Transport System).to help Charlotte Transportation.

The CATS system transports over 90,000 week day riders across all its services by operating 547 buses, vans, rail-cars and trolleys in its fleet. This transit system is the largest in operation between Georgia and Washington and the largest in Charlotte Transportation.

Convenience is the motto of CATS. That is the reason for the system operating more than 40 routes, transporting more than 18 million passengers each year. CATS also links local and regional communities to jobs, medical facilities and spots of entertainments. System Maps are exhibited at pick-up and drop-off locations.

The Charlotte Transportation Center/arena station is a light rail station for both the LYNX Blue Line and the historic Charlotte Trolley in uptown Charlotte. The station is unique to the LYNX system and serves as the meeting place common to all the three transportation modes.

Public transportation information:

1. Central City Circuit – Free shuttle service for the uptown area.
2. Charlotte Transit
3. Charlotte Transportation Center
4. Greyhound Bus lines

Charlotte Trolley: This Trolley service connects the Charlotte Transportation Center with some of the closer neighborhoods to the south of the uptown.

Amtrak: The Amtrak station is located in the north of uptown Charlotte, serving as another option for those coming from out of the town. The train-ride is certainly comfortable and safe and is slightly cheaper than renting a car.
