Designing Catalogue

The application of visual creativity is one of the aims of Charlotte Design to all their catalogue design, this is done so that our clients’ product will be clear and the information will be concise – with the use of a clear hierarchy of information to emphasize the features and benefit s of their products. Everything is uniquely presented to our client, giving them the edge over their competitors. At Charlotte design, we work closely with our client so that wing to can better understand the products we are going to promote, the message to be portrayed and the necessary facts to be absorbed. We can enhance our clients’ catalogue design with custom-made graphic design and imagery to create a genuine interest in the offering.

Some key catalogue design tips:

•Try to establish a hierarchy of information, what is vital to each product, the benefits to the customers/consumers, the features, specifications? Which among your products are you pushing? Best sellers or which have high profit margin? Try to think creatively…
•Try to establish rules on hero pages, in depth information as well as the product pages themselves, the readers or recipients are interested in your product, that’s the reason why they are reading your catalogue.
•Try to establish rules of navigation – let them quickly find the information, be sure that the index, contents and appendices are very accurate.
•Awards and testimonials are important, use them as your reference, they can generate trust in your consumers.

Catalogue design can be compared to a company brochure, thus, whatever the innovation used in the latter can also be used in designing the catalogue. It requires much consideration to the following: space, type and image and their relationship with each other, as these are all vying for the viewer’s attention as they read each and every page. One must also consider the required feel for the product, especially the finished product, keeping also into consideration how the viewers will feel once they touch the catalogue, will the paper or board to be used be as smooth as silk or as rough as a stone. The big difference between a catalogue and a brochure designs is the emphasis on systematic and logical organization and presentation of large quantities of information, examples of which are the description and image. In which case, the designer must not just focus on the aesthetic values but rather also focus on the clarity of information being presented. The more information you will be placing in your catalogue, the more clearly the information has to be, because readers get frustrated easily when they can’t get what they want right away. Your catalogue design must hit the attention of the reader right away. Keeping them focused will keep your viewers viewing your products and moreover to purchase it.
